This footage leaked in 1997 and people have been arguing about it ever since.
Stan Romanek filmed what appears to be a grey alien peering through his window in the dark. Those giant black eyes slowly appearing in the shadow, blinking in a smooth and fluid way, looking directly into the house like it had been watching for a while before anyone noticed it was there.
For a lot of people who study this topic seriously that footage is the one they keep coming back to. Not because it is the most high tech evidence out there. But because of the way it feels. There is something about those eyes appearing in the darkness of a window that hits differently than a light in the sky.
Skeptics have called it a clever hoax. Believers call it the clearest proof of extraterrestrial biological intelligence ever captured on home video. After all these years neither side has fully convinced the other.
What is interesting is how relevant this footage feels right now. With sightings increasing all over the world and governments slowly opening their files, going back to clips like this one makes you wonder whether the truth was already trying to surface long before anyone in power was ready to admit it.
Some things get deleted. But they never fully disappear.
