For decades Steven Spielberg put aliens on the big screen without ever claiming to believe they were real. Now, while promoting his new film Disclosure Day, the legendary director has admitted that years of UFO reports, eyewitness accounts, and testimony from military and government figures have changed his mind about the people coming forward with these stories.

Spielberg said he has never personally seen a UFO himself, but the sheer volume of smartphone videos, documentation, and firsthand accounts has moved the entire subject out of tabloid territory and into the mainstream conversation. Speaking on The Daily, he explained that someone his age growing up simply did not have access to the kind of visual evidence circulating today. When one of the most respected filmmakers in the world, someone who has spent a career imagining contact with the unknown, starts saying he trusts the witnesses, that carries weight far beyond Hollywood.
