Lakenheath–Bentwaters UFO Incident (1956)
On the night of August 13–14, 1956, one of the most credible military UFO incidents in British history took place over RAF Lakenheath and RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, England.

The event began when radar operators at RAF Bentwaters detected an unidentified object moving at extraordinary speed. Soon after, personnel reported seeing a bright white light streak across the sky. The object appeared to stop suddenly, change direction instantly, and accelerate in ways that seemed impossible for known aircraft of the time.
Later that night, radar operators at RAF Lakenheath tracked another mysterious target. An RAF Venom night fighter was scrambled to intercept it. According to reports, the pilot initially managed to approach the object—but then the UFO appeared to turn around and follow the fighter instead. After several minutes, the object suddenly disappeared from both radar and visual contact.
The incident was witnessed by multiple trained military personnel and tracked on radar, making it one of the strongest radar-visual UFO cases ever documented. Years later, the case was investigated by the University of Colorado’s Condon Committee, which concluded that the sightings remained difficult to explain using conventional causes.
Nearly 70 years later, the Lakenheath–Bentwaters Incident continues to be one of the world’s most debated UFO encounters.
👽 What do you think? Was it an advanced secret aircraft, a radar anomaly… or something truly unexplained?
