On April 18, 1961, Wisconsin farmer Joe Simonton claimed a saucer-shaped UFO landed in his yard near Eagle River while he was feeding his chickens.

He said three small, dark-haired occupants gestured for water, and while he fetched it, they cooked several small buckwheat-like pancakes on a hot plate inside the craft before handing him four of them.

After the UFO departed, Simonton kept one pancake and gave the others to investigators. The U.S. Air Force’s Project Blue Book examined the case because of the physical evidence.

The pancakes were analyzed by laboratories, which found they were made from ordinary ingredients similar to buckwheat flour, fat, and water.

No unusual chemicals, radiation, or extraterrestrial materials were detected.
